Grew up outside of Cleveland, OH where he wrestled his prep years. After graduating from The University of Toledo, he moved to Houston to start his teaching and coaching career. He has been coaching high school wrestling for over 19 years in the Houston area with previous head coaching experience at Mayde Creek from 2001-05. In 2005 he was hired to start the wrestling program at the new Seven Lakes High School. He has been married to his wonderful wife, Kerri for over 15 years and they have two wonderful children, Carter and Leah.
Born and raised in Nebraska where he began wrestling in elementary school in the small town of Albion. As a four year varsity wrestler, he was a 4x Conference placer, District Runner-up, State Qualifier, and member of a Nebraska State Championship Team. He graduated from the Colorado School of Mines and has worked in the energy business throughout his career but enjoys the opportunity to work with kids in wrestling as a volunteer. He and his wife Sara, have 3 children – 2 wrestlers and a mat girl – Mia, Adelaide, and Daxton.
Grew up in Denver, CO, where he began wrestling in 6th grade. In high school, he was a district champion and 2X state qualifier and also competed extensively at the cadet and junior levels in freestyle and Greco. Previously, he was an assistant coach at Arvada High School in Colorado. He holds a BS degree in Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, and a MS degree in Eng Mngt from Missouri at Rolla. After college, Covey served for nine years in the US Army as a Combat Engineer Officer, commanding in Iraq, Korea, and several other stateside assignments. He and his wife Paula have two sons, Andrew and Alex.
